Perspectives on HPV-Related Oropharyngeal Cancer: Personal Experience & Clinical Expertise

Tuesday, April 19, 12p-1p CST

About the Webinar:

Each year 45,000 men and women are diagnosed with cancer caused by HPV. While cervical cancer is the most well-known cancer that is caused by HPV, there are five other types of cancers that can develop from HPV. Oropharyngeal cancer has surpassed cervical cancer as the most common cancer caused by HPV, accounting for nearly 19,000 cases in the United States.

Join us to learn about oropharyngeal cancer through the eyes of a survivor, as he shares the story of his illness and recovery. This will be followed by a medical expert who will share the burden of oropharyngeal cancer, current trends in the epidemiology of oropharyngeal cancer, and the importance of vaccination to prevent HPV infections. We will also address common questions related to HPV and oropharyngeal cancer.

 Learning Objectives

  1. Describe the impact of oropharyngeal cancer from a survivor perspective.
  2. Define the burden and epidemiology of oropharyngeal cancer from national & local perspective.
  3. Identify the relationship between oropharyngeal cancer and the Human Papillomavirus (HPV).
  4. Learn how to address common questions about oropharyngeal cancer and HPV vaccine.
