Description: 
The Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS) is the largest continuously conducted health survey system in the world, collecting information among adults in all U.S. states and territories. This webinar will provide an overview of the Nebraska BRFSS, including its history as well as the current methods, design, and administration process.  Furthermore, this webinar will provide an overview of past, present, future opportunities for collecting and reporting cancer-related data among Nebraska adults using the BRFSS.

  • Describe the current BRFSS methods, design, and administration process
  • Describe how the BRFSS can be used to enhance cancer surveillance

About the Speaker:
Jeff Armitage
Epidemiology Surveillance Coordinator
Division of Public Health
Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services

Jeff Armitage works as an epidemiology surveillance coordinator for the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services.  During his 15 years with the department, he has worked in cardiovascular and substance abuse epidemiology, health statistics administration, and health planning and evaluation.  Currently, he oversees the Nebraska Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (or BRFSS), provides technical assistance to local health departments, and
assists with state health assessment, planning, and evaluation.
