Speaker

Dr. Sarah Creamer grew up in the northeast corner of South Dakota.  Her interest in a career in hematology-medical oncology stemmed from a family history of malignancy in which her grandmother needed to travel multiple hours each way for every oncology visit.  This caused Dr. Creamer to set a personal goal of helping other patients in this situation by becoming a community hematologist-medical oncologist in rural America.   Undergraduate studies were at Wheaton College in Wheaton, IL, and she graduated from medical school at the University of South Dakota.  She completed a residency in Internal Medicine-Pediatrics at the University of Texas Houston Health Science Center which was followed by a chief year in pediatrics before committing long-term to adult medicine.  Her fellowship in hematology-medical oncology was at the Houston Methodist Hospital where she also served as chief fellow for her program.  While in fellowship, Dr. Creamer developed a special interest in breast cancer through patient care and research involvement.  This has continued with her career with Nebraska Cancer Specialists where she has developed a large cohort of breast oncology patients.

Apart from her professional interests, Dr. Creamer is also a mother to 3 young children.  She enjoys dabbling in gardening, reading and is also a classically trained musician.  She enjoys occasionally playing for patients on the grand piano in the Grand Island infusion center.
