His laboratory is focused on evaluating new pathways in head and neck and lung cancer and identifying novel prognostic and predictive biomarkers for these malignancies.

Ashley Pedro is a Stage 4 Colon Cancer that was diagnosed at age 33 on February 24th, 2021. Throughout the last three years, she has had two surgeries, multiple procedures, radiation, been through so many chemo treatments she's lost count, and participated in two clinical trials. Although neither of the clinical trials helped in her cancer adventure, she knows the data they got from her participation gave them data to help others. She is currently on “Fruzaqla” a drug that was just FDA approved on November 8th, 2023. It was approved but first had to go through the clinical trial process and she is thankful for the people that participated in those trials as this is the only thing that has worked and is currently shrinking her tumors. Ashley shared, "There are several stages in the clinical trial process and sometimes it may feel like you are part of the testing process, but you are part of such a humbling experience and are saving lives!".
