About the Webinar: 

As the population of cancer survivors continues to grow, so has the importance and recognition of survivorship care. This webinar will focus on the cancer care that continues after cancer treatment has ended and how financial toxicity impacts cancer survivors.

Learning Objectives: 

1) Describe cancer survivorship and its role on the cancer continuum.

2) Identify the role of shared decision making in cancer survivorship care.

3) Define financial toxicity in cancer care and survivorship.

4) Discuss contributors and management strategies of financial toxicity.


About the Speakers


Rachael Schmidt, DNP, APRN, AOCNP is an Advanced Oncology Certified Nurse Practitioner and Program Director of the Cancer Risk & Prevention and Survivorship Programs at Nebraska Medicine. Her clinical focus is treating patients at high risk for cancer as well as cancer survivors by focusing on all aspects of cancer survivorship including prevention of new cancers, surveillance of late/long term effects of cancer treatment, intervention of side effects, and coordination of care between oncology and primary care. She currently is the Principal Investigator on a multi-site cancer center survivorship study, which looks at digital health coaching in cancer survivors.


Laura Tenner, MD, MPH is an associate professor in the Division of Oncology and Hematology at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. Her clinical focus is gastrointestinal cancers and she also has specialized training in ethics in oncology and population sciences research. Dr. Tenner accepted the role of Medical Director for Cancer Survivorship Program at Nebraska Medicine in 2022. Her research interest includes evaluating ways to improve cancer care delivery in cancer survivorship populations with a special focus on rural communities.
