CAPC Membership Grant Program

NC2 is excited to announce a new partnership with the Center to Advance Palliative Care (CAPC). Through this agreement, NC2 will be granting CAPC membership to as many as three (3) of our Organizational Partners in 2018.

Those who are awarded grants will have 100% of their CAPC membership dues paid by NC2 for the first year, a $3500-$6000 value! Please review full details below prior to applying.

The 2018 application period is now closed. Recipients will be announced in early June.

Who Can Apply?

  • Any Nebraska cancer center with less than 300 beds that has received accreditation from the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer
  • Must have palliative care services available or a plan to put a team/services in place in the next year
  • Cannot be a current member of CAPC (grants would be for new membership only)
  • Must be an NC2 Organizational Partner (or join prior to awarding of grant)

What’s Included with CAPC Membership?

Your organization will become part of a vibrant collaborative network of health care professionals working to strengthen the palliative care skills and knowledge of all clinicians and to ensure access to quality palliative care in all settings across the continuum of care. One CAPC membership provides the entire staff of each member entity with access to the clinical and operational training, tools, technical assistance, and other expert resources.

A few highlights of membership include:

  • Clinical training for all frontline clinicians, integrating best practices with highly interactive case-based skill building. Topics include safe and effective opioid prescribing, constructing an appropriate pain plan, symptom management, how to manage difficult conversations, and relief of suffering from diseases like dementia, among many other topics. Free CMEs and CEUs are provided after the completion of each course.
  • Human connection and convening via regularly scheduled Virtual Office Hours and webinar series with content experts and national leaders for hands-on advice and mentoring; and peer-to-peer support through moderated forums and Master Clinician Series, small group discussions on clinical topics using case studies.
  • Operational and leadership training on needs assessment, business planning and marketing, team training and support, essential metrics, and building community partnerships. Free CMEs and CEUs are provided after the completion of each course.
  • Hundreds of ready-to-use tools and technical assistance (such as toolkits, curated articles/publications packaged into practical formats, and documentation templates for clinical leaders, managers, and palliative care specialists.
  • Special discounts on the CAPC National Seminar and the Journal of Palliative Medicine.

What Are the Expectations of Grantees?

Grantees must submit a grant application before May 25, 2018. Those selected must also complete a pre-assessment prior to June 15, 2018 and semi-annual assessments during the membership year so that NC2 can gauge the impact of this CAPC partnership as well as the benefit to your organization, staff and palliative care activities. Finally, grantees shall give NC2 permission to verify with CAPC utilization of site resources.
